XCUT is a powerful, X-based screen capture utility. It allows the userto select a region or window to be captured as well as select the outputfile format. Currently, XCUT is shipped with over forty fileformats/filters including GIF, EPSF, XWD, and TIFF.XCUT features include:

Extensible output file format mechanism
Reduction of color maps
Halftone and dithering of color images
Direct mapping of color images to monochrome
User selection of area to capture a rubber-banded region, an

individual window, or the entire screen
